What gift from your parents do you remember the most?

'What Karina wants. Karina gets.'

That was the ever-famous motto for a spoiled-brat like me in my childhood days. And y' know, my parents got me a lot of crap that I asked for and wanted: Nintendo, all kitchen toys, cellphone and another cellphone and another cellphone, jewelry, fashionable clothes,  my Casio keyboard gathering dust for now. I was the first to get a new phone among our brood. There are actually a few gifts I remember with a particular fondness, however.

First, my parents sent me to two summer camps in two consecutive summers in Bago City, Negros Occidental and in Los Baños, Laguna. Those were gifts, expensive treats. Since, they cost them a lot to spend for airfare, food, allowance and registration.

Secondly, they enrolled me for summer lessons - music, lawn tennis and a preparatory class for high school. I mean, they're gifts because my friends never had that chance to avail them in our younger years.

A classmate in the grad school, an engineer in the city once told me, "It's a good feeling able to treat our parents from time to time." I must agree. :)

However, if we enter the realm of mushy, touchy and feely stuff, and then we say gifts from our parents… It would be all the love they give me into this world! :)
